Let's Make Staunton Great For Kids Scholarship Golf Tournament Now Accepting Tournament Entires

The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department will Host Golf Tournament at the Gypsy Hill Golf Course in Historic Gypsy Hill Park.

STAUNTON, VA (09/21/2011)(readMedia)-- The Let's Make Staunton Great For Kids Scholarship Golf Tournament is Saturday, October 1.

Staunton Parks & Recreation will be holding a Golf Tournament at Gypsy Hill on Saturday, October 1 to raise money for a Youth and Teen Scholarship fund. The fund will be used to subsidize underprivileged local youth/teens participation in our recreation, afterschool and summer camp programs. Currently there is no such scholarship fund, and we need the community's help to us establish a means to provide needed services for Staunton's youth.

Many other Parks & Recreation Departments have such funds, and Staunton does get calls asking about assistance. We hope that, with this new fund, youth and teens can apply for assistance to child care programs, positive places and athletics which will introduce them to new experiences and safe places they might not otherwise be able to enjoy. All proceeds will go to the scholarship fund, from which families of youth and teens may apply for needed funding.

The tournament is a 4 Man Captain's Choice. The price to play in the tournament is $35 and includes lunch. Mulligans will be sold on site. 1st Prize for the winning team will be $100 gift certificates(each golfer) to Dick's Sporting Goods. Other prizes will be from local shops and restaurants.

There is also an advertising opportunity to become a hole sponsor for businesses or individuals. The sponsorship price is $50 which includes the business/individual name or logo displayed on a yard sign at the designated hole. Parks and Rec will also mention the business/individual during the event and in all 'Thank Yous' to our sponsors.
