Lieutenant Governor Reynolds Appointed to Iowa State Fair Board
DES MOINES, IA (03/31/2011)(readMedia)-- Governor Terry Branstad has officially selected Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds to serve as his representative on the Iowa State Fair Board of Directors. Reynolds' appointment is effective immediately.
The native Iowan and former State Senator from Osceola looks forward to playing a role in the state's largest event. "I am excited to serve on the Fair Board and be part of Iowa's greatest showcase of talent and excellence. For more than 150 years the Iowa State Fair has celebrated our state's agricultural heritage and today is one of the top fairs in the nation."
Reynolds joins additional directors by office held, including Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey (represented by Karey Claghorn), and Iowa State University President Gregory Geoffroy (represented by Dr. Chuck Morris, director of 4-H Youth Development at Iowa State University).
The elected Board is determined by delegates from six geographic State Fair Board districts who elect two board members each for a total of 12 directors. Directors and their districts include: James Romer, Ames, and Alan Brown, Hampton (north central); Paul Vaassen, Dubuque, and John Harms, Monticello (northeast); Gary VanAernam, Exira, and C .W. Thomas, Guthrie Center (southwest); Randy Brown, Osceola, and Jerry Parkin, Earlham (south central); and Bob Schlutz, Columbus Junction, and Gary McConnell, Bloomfield (southeast); Bill Neubrand, Le Mars, and Dave Hoffman, Le Mars (northwest).
R. Brown and McConnell serve the Board as president and vice-president, respectively.
