Local Residents Recognized for Academic Achievement at University of Scranton Commencement

SCRANTON, PA (06/14/2012)(readMedia)-- Michael Ryan Iorfino and Megan Ashleigh Addessi, Newtown, Conn., were among the 65 students honored by The University of Scranton during its undergraduate Class Night ceremony. The Jesuit university awarded outstanding members of the Class of 2012 for academic achievement and service.
Iorfino was the recipient of the J. Harold Brislin Memorial Award for Excellence in Journalism. He earned a bachelor of arts in communication.
Iorfino was a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society. He was a contributor to the Aquinas and interned at the Scranton Times-Tribune and PaPrep (Rivals.com).
Iorfino plans to pursue employment as a print journalist at the Scranton Times-Tribune newspaper.
He graduated from Newtown High School, Newtown, Conn.
Addessi received the Excellence in Management and Excellence in Operations Management awards. She earned a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, with a double major in management and operational management.
Addessi was a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu and Omega Beta Sigma honor societies and was named to "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." She served as secretary and a board member of the Business Club, information-services director for the Greater Scranton Junior Chamber of Commerce, a LearnVest College ambassador, a Junior Achievement volunteer and a tutor for The University's Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence. She also interned at Sanofi Pasteur for two summers.
Addessi will pursue her MBA at The University. She is employed at the Foley Law Firm in Scranton.
She graduated from Newtown High School, Newtown, Conn.
