Local Student Lands Role in Mark Twain Comedy at Curry College

MILTON , MA (11/20/2013)(readMedia)-- Curry College is pleased to announce that Framingham, MA resident, Carlota Velazco, daughter of Mayda and Ernesto Velazco, has landed a stage role in her fifth semester at Curry College. She will be playing the role of Madame Caron in the Curry Theatre's Main Stage production of Mark Twain's comedy, Is He Dead? Carlota is a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Psychology and has been seen in the Curry Theatre show, Guys and Dolls. This semester she is serving on Curry Theatre's Supervisory Board as the Assistant House and Box Office Manager and the Assistant Stage Manager for the Blackbox show, The Seventh Annual New Plays Festival.

Written by Mark Twain in 1898, but not performed until 2003, Is He Dead? is a farcical account of the real life and fictional staged death of French artist Jean François Millet. Is He Dead?, will run Saturday, Dec. 7th through Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 7:30 p.m. at Curry College, in the Oscar B. and Frances A. Keith Auditorium at the Academic and Performance Center on the Milton Campus, 1071 Blue Hill Avenue, Milton, MA. Tickets are $10 and may be reserved at 617-333-2259 (Option 2).

Founded in 1879, Curry College is a private, four-year, liberal arts institution located on 135 acres in Milton, MA. Curry extends its educational programs to a continuing education branch campus in Plymouth, MA. Curry offers 20 undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees in business, education, criminal justice and nursing, with a combined enrollment of approximately 4,150 students.
