Local Student Receives Award from Central Penn College

SUMMERDALE, PA (02/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Chireen Townsend of Philadelphia, a Central Penn College criminal justice administration and accounting student, has received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Leadership. Townsend is a student ambassador and serves on the judiciary committee for the college, holding other students accountable for their actions.

"Chireen embodies a natural leader in her activities at Central Penn," says Academic Dean Kathy Andersen.

Students are nominated by the faculty and staff of Central Penn. Townsend was one of four Central Penn College students awarded for their outstanding performance in the areas of academic excellence, community service, leadership and character during the college's February 15 Black History Month luncheon.
