Local Students of the American Hebrew Academy to Perform "The Complete History of America (Abridged)"
GREENSBORO, NC (05/16/2011)(readMedia)-- The American Hebrew Academy Theatre Department proudly presents The Complete History of America (abridged) by Adam Long, Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor. The production will be held in the Temple Emanuel Social Hall in Greensboro on May 18th and 19th at 7:00 PM.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students, and tickets will be on sale at the door 30 minutes prior to show time.
America (abridged) is the second play written by the widely renowned Reduced Shakespeare Company, which rose to fame in America and London with their original production "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)." The RSC, which is now responsible for a total of seven such plays, as well as books, podcasts and more, is known for its cultural insight, fast-paced comedy and sharp wit, as it condenses vast amounts of information into wildly entertaining 90-minute compositions. The Boston Herald has described America (abridged) as "What the 'Daily Show' might be like if it were hosted by the Marx Brothers."
The show is directed by the American Hebrew Academy's theatre instructor, Pauline Cobrda, and the cast features the talents of Ross Abramson (Class of 2014), Nicole Goldstein (2012), Max Nemhauser (2014), Ilana Peskin (2014), Hannah Ripps (2012) and Justin Shannin (2012). Mrs. Cobrda is supported by Assistant Director Andrew Stesis (Academy Fellow), with Stage Management by Emily Kerner (2014) and Matt Greenberg (2014).
The show interprets the past as a "breathlessly paced sequence of silly vaudeville sketches, word-association games, puns and crude parodies of movie and television genres." You will certainly agree: "History has never been this much fun!"
