FULTON, MO (04/23/2012)(readMedia)-- Two William Woods University students presented the results of their research at the Missouri Academy of Science's 48th annual meeting April 14 at University of Missouri-Columbia.

Amanda Workman, a senior from Oldfield, Mo., and Lucas Watson, a junior from Louisiana, Mo., participated in the Biomedicine and Biotechnology section.

Dr. Mary Spratt, Cox Distinguished Professor of Science at WWU, accompanied the two students.

"Both Amanda and Lucas did excellent jobs. They got a lot of compliments for their research presentations, and each answered a number of questions from the audience."

Despite their hard work and research, Workman and Watson did not receive awards. Those in charge thought the presenters were faculty or graduate students, so awards were not given.

"We were disappointed because we felt that they each would have won an award," Spratt said. "But perhaps it is a compliment that they were regarded as faculty or graduate students."
