Luther College senior Mallory Grams receives professional pin for completion in nursing program
DECORAH, IA (05/21/2013)(readMedia)-- Mallory Grams of Hopkins, Minn., was one of 21 students to receive the professional nursing pin as part of a ceremony marking her completion in the nursing major at Luther College.
Grams, the daughter of Steve and Judy Grams of Hopkins, is a 2009 graduate of Hopkins High School.
Designed by the first nursing graduating class in 1978 the pin reflects the philosophy of Luther College with the cross of Christ standing on the rock of faith in the center and the Luther motto, "Soli Deo Gloria" circling the cross. The pin has a ruby with an encrusted letter "L" identical to that of the Luther College ring. In addition, the lamp of light, symbolic of the nursing profession, is encrusted in gold upon the stone.
Since the first graduating class, more than 950 students have completed Luther's nursing program.
Graduates have been employed in more than 36 states as well as in dozens of countries including Bolivia, China, Guam, Kenya, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland.
The nursing department reinforces the mission of the college – to undertake the Christian concept of service to church, society, and the world.
