Luther junior Berndt to present organ recital

DECORAH, IA (02/19/2013)(readMedia)-- Michael Berndt, a Luther College junior from Amery, Wis., will perform an organ recital at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.
Berndt, the son of Karl and Mary Berndt of Amery, is majoring in music and philosophy at Luther.
Berndt will perform works by Dietrich Buxtehude, Maurice Duruflé and Felix Mendelssohn.
A reception will follow the performance. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Berndt is a student of Gregory Peterson, Luther associate professor of music and Brad Schultz and Jonathon Struve, Luther adjunct faculty in music.
Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.
Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
