Luther junior Moore to present cello recital

DECORAH, IA (02/20/2013)(readMedia)-- Brita Moore, a Luther College junior from Mercer Island, Wash., will perform a cello recital at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 10 in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.
Moore, the daughter of Karin Swenson-Moore and Nicholas Moore of Mercer Island, is majoring in English at Luther. She is a 2010 graduate of Mercer Island High School.
Moore will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Édouard Lalo and Robert Schumann.
A reception will follow the performance. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Moore is a student of Eric Kutz, Luther associate professor of music. She will be accompanied by Luther senior Sydney Kjerstad on piano and junior Aaron Mertzenich on viola. Her recital partner is Trinda Phelon, Luther junior.
Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.
Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
