Luther junior Satern to present soprano recital

DECORAH, IA (03/22/2013)(readMedia)-- Marissa Satern, a Luther College junior from Hiawatha, Iowa, will perform a soprano recital at noon Sunday, April 14, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.
Satern, the daughter of Tom and Pat Satern of Hiawatha, is majoring in biology at Luther. She is a 2010 graduate of Xavier High School.
Satern will perform works by Girolamo Frescobaldi, Hugo Wolf, Georges Bizet, Hector Berlioz, Jake Heggie and Mozart.
A reception will follow the performance. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Satern is a student of Andrew Whitfield, Luther associate professor of music. She will be accompanied by Luther junior Charles Hoeft. Her recital partner is Sam Jones, Luther unior.
Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.
Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
