Luther senior DeJang to present voice recital

DECORAH, IA (11/06/2013)(readMedia)-- Meggie DeJong, a Luther College senior from Glenwood, Minn., will perform a voice recital at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.
DeJong, the daughter of Craig DeJong and Diane Moeller of Glenwood, is majoring in music and psychology at Luther. She is a 2001 graduate of Minnewaska Area High School.
DeJong will perform songs by Francesco Cavalli, Hugo Wolf, Claude Debussy, Samuel Barber and Mozart.
A reception will follow the performance. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
DeJong is a student of Kristin Hightower, Luther adjunct faculty in music. She will be accompanied by Luther junior Caleb Sander and her recital partner is Mary Maiden Mueller, Luther senior.
Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.
Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
