Luther's Erik Linn-Molin presents at Undergraduate Research Symposium

DECORAH, IA (12/05/2012)(readMedia)-- Erik Linn-Molin, Luther College junior from Braham, Minn., was one of five students selected to present their work at the 2012 Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science, Nov. 2-3, at Washington University in St. Louis.

Linn-Molin said, "The challenge of presenting at a collegiate level conference is presenting to the wide range of experiences in your field."

At the conference Linn-Molin presented "Frictional Modification of Aluminum Oxide Surfaces." He explained his research on the friction of aluminum oxide surfaces.

Linn-Molin, the son of Craig Molin and Marcy Linn of Braham, is a physics major with a minor in mathematics and education. He is a 2010 graduate of Braham Area High School.

The symposium provides undergraduates in the fields of mathematics, physical sciences and computer sciences an opportunity to present their research projects and results to their peers and faculty. Every fall for more than 10 years, Washington University and the University of Chicago have alternated hosting meetings at which undergraduates present their research.

Luther College is an undergraduate liberal arts institution of 2,500 students in Decorah, Iowa.
