SIOUX FALLS, SD (02/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Augustana College (Sioux Falls, SD) student Lindsey Olson from Luverne, MN, has been selected as a 2010 Peace Prize Forum Scholar.

The Peace Prize Forum Scholars program is sponsored by the Nobel Peace Prize Forum consortium comprised of Augustana College, Augsburg College, Concordia College (Moorhead), Luther College, and St. Olaf College. Two students from each of the participating colleges are awarded a six-week educational experience in Oslo, Norway, designed to deepen their understanding of issues related to peace, justice, democracy, and human rights.

Olson and fellow Augustana classmate Hannah Miller (Mankato, MN) will be introduced at the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Forum to be held March 5-6 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minn. During the six-week seminar at the University of Olso's International Summer School, the winning scholars will work on projects they will be asked to present at the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Forum.

Upon returning to their respective campuses, the 10 scholars will continue to communicate and find ways to build on the Oslo experience together. They will also be expected to play a leadership role in peace activities on their campuses, and assist with the upcoming Nobel Peace Prize Forum.

Olson, a junior majoring in elementary education, volunteers at the Sioux Falls Immersion Center helping to teach English to immigrant children. Her campus activities include New Student Orientation, Augustana Band, Union Board of Governors, Honor Board and Augustana College Educators Association. She is also active in the Sioux Falls Big Sisters/Big Brothers program. She is the daughter of Patti and David Olson.
