Lyndsey Ruble of Advance welcomed as editor-in-chief of Harding University student newspaper

SEARCY, ARK. (10/31/2012)(readMedia)-- Junior print journalism major Lyndsey Ruble of Advance (27006-7887) recently began her new position as editor-in-chief of the Harding University student newspaper The Bison for the 2012-13 school year.

"So far this year I have really tried to emphasize relationships and communication," Ruble said. "I want the newspaper to develop a relationship with the student body so that we can tell their stories as effectively as possible."

For decades, The Bison has been a part of Harding's heritage. Keeping the student body informed of campus news, events and stories of unique Harding faculty and students, the newspaper seeks to publish its information both in print and virtually on The Link, a newly updated version of the department of mass communication's student media network. The site displays work from The Bison, Petit Jean yearbook, TV16 news program and KVHU 95.3 and AM 1660 radio stations.

"Most importantly, the staff and I have really focused on trying to educate our readers about events on and off campus," Ruble said. "We want Harding students to be aware of the world around them and to stay current with national and global news."

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas with 6,815 students and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia. For more information visit www.harding.edu.
