MARJORIE FEINSTEIN OF NORTH CALDWELL, N.J., NAMED CHAIRPERSON OF THE HOLOCAUST ADVISORY BOARD AT CSE

MORRISTOWN, NJ (02/12/2014)(readMedia)-- Marjorie Feinstein of North Caldwell, N.J., has been named Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the College of Saint Elizabeth Holocaust Education Resource Center, 2 Convent Road, Morristown, N.J. Members of the Advisory Board advise and support the Center, which was founded in 1994, and play an important role in the mission and initiatives of the Center.

"For almost 25 years, the College has been committed to ensuring that 'never again' is not just a slogan," said Harriet Sepinwall, co-director. "We have pioneered educational programming to teach about the Holocaust and other genocides, including educating students, teachers, religious and civic leaders and the community, with survivors as well as outstanding scholars and master teachers. Our programs are open to the public and have the endorsement of the N.J. Commission on Holocaust Education."

The College's first Kristallnacht commemoration was held in 1990. The following year the event was expanded to include a week of Holocaust remembrance, and in 1994 the College of Saint Elizabeth Holocaust Education Resource Center was established. The Center offers annual highly regarded community Holocaust commemorations with survivor testimony, teacher training conferences and workshops, courses for undergraduate and graduate university students, film programs with speakers, and interfaith dialogue programs, all at no charge, including:

• Annual interfaith Kristallnacht commemorations

• Annual week of Holocaust remembrance (first in the United States), with in-class faculty sessions.

• Annual conferences and teacher training workshops for educators from public, Catholic, Jewish, and other schools.

• Partnerships for teacher training with leading Holocaust organizations, including United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Yad Vashem, AntiDefamation League, USC Shoah Foundation, American Society for Yad Vashem, and the Holocaust Council of MetroWest.

• Genocide awareness programs.

• Opportunities for middle and high school students to come to the College with their teachers to learn about the Holocaust and other genocides.

• Trips for students and survivors to museums and sites that focus on Holocaust and genocides.

• A new graduate Certificate in Holocaust and Genocide Education starting in fall 2014, endorsement by the N.J. Commission on Holocaust Education.

• Membership in the International Association of Holocaust Organizations.
