MIAA Names Tyler Murphy Athlete of the Week

Senior forward Tyler Murphy of Greenfield, Indiana, a member of the Trine University men's soccer team, was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 23. It was the seventh time in his career that he has been tabbed MIAA Athlete of the Week and Murphy was the second Trine men's soccer student-athlete to be awarded by the conference in 2023.

Murphy scored one goal in each of the team's two victories on the prior week. The Thunder were winners 1-0 at Hope College on Tuesday and defeated Alma College by a score of 2-1.

Murphy received a long pass from sophomore Liam Zimmerman in the team's first match that set him up for the match's only goal against the Flying Dutch. Murphy would use his speed once more to score the game's first goal against the Scots of Alma coming off a feed by sophomore Evan Komrska.
