Maddox receives two scholarships from ECU's Department of Education
Kay'Lee Maddox, right of Kellyville, received the Cephus Lawson Teacher Scholarship and the James and Edith Thompson Scholarship during the East Central University Department of Education's 2019 Spring Awards Luncheon. Pictured with Maddox is Dr. Phyllis Isaacs, associate professor of education. The Cephus Lawson Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior majoring in education with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This fund was established by the Lawson family in gratitude for the opportunity that ECU afforded their children to achieve college educations. They had five children, all of whom graduated from ECU. The James and Edith Thompson Scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in elementary education. The recipient must be a fulltime ECU student with a 3.0 GPA or above. The Thompson both have education degrees from ECU.
