Madeline Chafin Receives Multiple Honors at Randolph-Macon Academy

FRONT ROYAL , VA (04/27/2011)(readMedia)-- Madeline Chafin, the daughter of Elizabeth Dukes of Wake Forest and Michael Chafin of Raleigh, was inducted into Randolph-Macon Academy's chapter of the National Junior Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society on April 16, 2011 at a ceremony during Spring Family Weekend. A student must maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.7, perform community service, and display evidence of achievement in knowledge, leadership, character and service to be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. Eligibility for foreign language honor societies is an "A" average over three semesters and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
In a separate ceremony, Maddy was also presented the Military Order of World Wars Award for excelling in both military and scholastic pursuits. The award is sponsored by the Military Order of World Wars of Virginia. Maddy is a member of the VA 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Randolph-Macon Academy.
Maddy is a freshman at Randolph-Macon Academy.
Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational day and boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12. Students in grades 9-12 participate in R-MA's 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) and have the option to participate in a unique flight program. R-MA is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in Front Royal, VA.
