FROSTBURG, MD (06/15/2010)(readMedia)-- Maggie Triska, a graduate of Wilton Public High School, was among the graduate and undergraduate students recognized at Frostburg State University's Honors Convocation in May.
Triska, who received honors in wildlife/fisheries biology, studied a rare forest carnivore, the fisher, in North Dakota for her thesis research. Her project involved the complex integration of rigorous field research with complicated spatial modeling. Her research findings already are being used to develop conservation plans for the fisher. Triska is kind, caring and selfless – traits that have endeared her to other graduate students and faculty. She has been accepted into three Ph.D. programs, and has decided to attend the University of Western Australia in Perth, where she will focus her doctoral research on spatial analysis and modeling in relation to conservation planning. She is the daughter of Jim and Cheryl Triska.
