Maggie Van Valkenburgh Honored by Hartwick College

Maggie Van Valkenburgh '26 of Highland, New York, received the Omicron Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Award during Honors Convocation on April 29. This award is given by the International Honor Society of Nursing to a graduating senior who is a member of the Honor Society at Hartwick College, and who exhibits excellence in scholarship, service and nursing practice.

At the Hartwick Hawks Athletic Awards Banquet on May 3, Van Valkenburgh earned the LeRoy "Sonny" House, Jr. Memorial Award, presented to a student who demonstrates exceptional enthusiasm and dedication to Hartwick Athletics while also serving the campus community. Van Valkenburgh, a member of the women's tennis team, had one of the most decorated careers in program history. A Nursing and Spanish major, Van Valkenburgh helped lead the Hawks to four regular season titles, three Empire 8 Championships, and a perfect 35-0 conference record in singles and doubles play combined. Off the court, she compiled an impressive resume of leadership and academic accomplishments.
