Makenna Ventuleth Honored by Hartwick College

Makenna Ventuleth '27 of Worcester, New York was named Faculty Scholar in Biochemistry during Honors Convocation on April 29. Faculty Scholars have excellent academic records and have demonstrated an outstanding mastery of their respective disciplines. Rising seniors are nominated by the faculty of their major departments on the basis of academic achievement, leadership and character.

Additionally, Ventuleth received the Dr. Robert E. & Mrs. MaryAlice Mansbach Scholarship. Established in 1991 by Charles Paul '72 and Carolyn Van Eps Paul '73 in honor of Dr. Robert E. Mansbach, a retired religion professor, the award is presented to a student who shows particularly outstanding growth in the spirit of liberal education.

Ventuleth also earned the Dr. Elizabeth V. Lamphere '38, H'97 Scholarship. Established through Lamphere's estate, the scholarship is awarded to a junior chemistry major with an academic average of at least 3.5, who is active in the Langmuir Chemical Society, also known as the Chem Club. Lamphere was the retired chair of the Science Department at the Norwich City School System.
