Malone University Names Deron Boring as Young Alumnus of the Year

The following tribute was read at a banquet held in his honor:

Deron M. Boring, J.D. is a 2001 graduate of Malone University with a B.A. in Law and Society and a minor in Political Science. He is also a 2004 graduate of the University of Akron McDowell School of Law. During Deron's senior year at Malone (2000-2001) he served as the President of the Student Body.

From 1999-2011 he served as the Administrator and later Coordinator of the Ohio Junior Leadership Training Academy for the Ohio District Council (Royal Rangers) of the Assemblies of God. The Training Academy is a ministry focusing mentoring young men into Christian leaders in their churches, families, homes and communities. During that time he served four years as the area coordinator for the ministry in the Akron Area. In addition to those duties, he served as a certified instructor of ministry and leadership for the Ohio District Royal Rangers from 1997 to 2011 and served as a leadership and ministry instructor for national leadership training camps.

He is admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio and also the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. His law office is located in Ravenna, Ohio and the practice is limited to probate, estate planning, elder law, small business and consumer bankruptcies. He is the chairman of the Portage County Bar Association's Probate Law committee and previously served two terms as the chair of the Bar Admissions Committee.

Deron is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Portage/Geauga County Juvenile Detention Center and has just completed a term on the Board of Trustees for the Portage County Law Library Association. He is a NRA certified instructor and a member and volunteer for the Portage County Amateur Radio Service, Inc. (PCARS).

Since graduating from Malone, Deron served on the Malone Young Alumni Council (MYAC) from 2003 to 2011, including a term as MYAC President from 2006 to 2007. He also served on the Malone Alumni Executive Board from 2006 to 2010. He is currently serving on the Malone University Estate Planning/Planned Giving Advisory Board.

Deron currently serves as adjunct faculty for Malone University teaching Business Law for the Malone University School of Business and Leadership on both the graduate and undergraduate levels and Introduction to American Government for the Department of History, Philosophy and Social Sciences.
