Malone's Julia Belden and "friend"

CANTON , OH (06/03/2011)(readMedia)-- Julia Belden, a Malone University senior zoo and wildlife biology major from Canton, Ohio, is spending 16 weeks of summer 2011 interning with the United States Navy Marine Mammal Program in San Diego, California.

From her blog:

"This summer, I am joining 24 other college students from all over the country at one of the best internships in the animal field. The U.S. Navy has been working with marine mammals since the 1960s, and they are at the forefront of marine mammal training, medicine, and research. Their bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions not only participate in research, but also are trained to work out in the open ocean to recover objects and detect sea mines. In return for their service, they are provided with the best care in the world. Interns play a large part in providing this care, and I am honored to have been selected for this experience!"
