ALBANY, NY (01/29/2014)(readMedia)-- Ronald J. Weiss of Manhattan is the new chair of the 4,747–member Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Weiss is a partner of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom's Trusts and Estates Group. His practice focuses on estate planning and taxation, as well as the representation of not-for-profit organizations, principally private foundations.

A 24-year member of the State Bar Association, Weiss most recently was chairperson-elect of the Trusts and Estates Law Section. He previously chaired the section's Committee on Legislation and Governmental Relations and the Committee on Ethics and Practice.

Weiss is a graduate of Yale University and earned his law degree from Albany Law School.

The 75,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
