Marin Halvorsen wins second straight CCIW title

An electric opening nine holes set up a high-stakes finish on the final day of action at the 2019 CCIW Women's Golf Championship. Starting the day two strokes behind Carthage's Adrienne Rohwedder, Halvorsen finished the day with a one-over par 73 to record a one-shot victory over Rohwedder. Halvorsen becomes the first women's golfer since Lindsay Haines (Illinois Wesleyan) in 2008-09 to win individual medalist honors and is the first to do so since the tournament switched to the current three-round format. The Thunder junior is just the third women's golfer in CCIW history to record multiple CCIW Championships.

Halvorsen came charging on Saturday, recording a birdies on the par-three third and par-three eighth holes. After a bogey on the ninth, she dropped to two-under for the day again with a birdie on the par-four 11th. With the finishing stretch playing tough all afternoon, three bogeys dropped Halvorsen to one-over on the day and set the mark at seven-over for the weekend.
