Mario Reyes of West Hartford Receives Award at University of Hartford's Annual Faculty/Staff Kickoff
WEST HARTFORD, CT (09/12/2012)(readMedia)-- Mario Reyes of West Hartford, a custodian of the Facilities Department, was honored with an Outstanding Staff Member Award at the University of Hartford's annual Faculty/Staff Kickoff on Wednesday Aug 29. The award recognizes individuals who are exceptionally dedicated to the University and who play a critical role in the success of the institution and its students.
Reyes brings dedication and a positive attitude to his custodial work in the University Commons building. Each day, he meticulously cleans the cafeteria, the Hawk's Nest restaurant, the Office of Communication, and Connections Health Education and Wellness Center, emptying the trash and recycling bins as he cheerfully greets colleagues.
But Reyes brings much more to the job than his ability to keep the offices in the Commons immaculate. He takes care of routine repairs in a skillful and timely manner. In an emergency, he will drop whatever he is doing to help others. He always has a smile on his face and takes the time to get to know the people who work in the Commons. He even helps with Spanish lessons. Every year, the Office of Communication has several work-study students, and Reyes is always interested in their progress.
Beyond University Commons, his dedication and cheerful demeanor are also apparent. From Community Day to Commencement, Reyes works diligently while making a point to connect with touring parents and potential students. Reliable and polite with exemplary customer-service skills, Reyes is an excellent representative of the University community.
Chartered in 1957 with the mission to be a "private university with a public purpose," the University of Hartford offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in the arts, humanities, business, engineering and technology, education, and the health professions.
