ARLINGTON, VA (03/03/2010)(readMedia)-- Marymount senior guard Terell White was named to the First Team All Capital Athletic Conference squad in women's basketball.
For White, who played her high school ball at Stone Bridge, this marks the second year that she has won all conference honors. She was on the Second Team in 2008.
White played in every game for the Saints this year – in fact in her four years at Marymount, she has played in every single game – 111 straight and counting. For this year, she is averaging 10.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
She is second in the CAC in assists, second in assist/turnover ratio, fifth in free throw percentage at 72.8 percent, 14th in scoring and 15th in field goal percentage (.404).
"There are a couple of things that make a great point guard," said head coach Bill Finney. "Having more assists than turnovers, and Terell's has that, and knowing when to set up your teammates and when to provide the scoring on your own and Terell has really matured with her decision making this year."
White also leads the team this season in made free throws with 99 at the present time as she has handled the ball the majority of the time at the end of the game in close contests when teams are looking to foul someone.
Terell went over 1000 career points this season and her total now stands at 1128 points, good for 15th all-time at Marymount. She also was MVP of the Marymount-Marines Tip-Off tournament this season.
She will have a chance to increase all of her statistics as Marymount is still in-season. The Saints are currently 26-1 and won their conference championship last weekend, gaining an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Marymount will host first and second round games of the NCAA Division III tournament this weekend beginning with the Saints hosting Scranton at 7 pm on Friday.
