Marysville Resident Completes Summer Internship

ASHLAND, OH (09/05/2013)(readMedia)-- ASHLAND, Ohio – Marysville resident Alex Johnson, who is a senior entrepreneurship major at Ashland University, interned at The Team Sports Entertainment and Media in Columbus, OH.

Johnson explained that The Team is a sports, entertainment, and media firm that deals in a variety of things. Throughout this summer the focus of the company was on an upcoming concert series beginning August 30.

"In my time with The Team, I handled the duties associated with assembling agreements, organizing ticket giveaway events, meeting with potential sponsors and acquiring sponsorship, and running the social media department for a brand-new product being released," said Johnson.

Johnson's major project he worked on in his internship was The FreeForAll concert series, which was his main focus for the summer. This is an ongoing series that presents national act talent underwritten by sponsorship to fans for free. He aided in the assembly of this concert, the planning and preparation, the acquisition of sponsorship, and the ongoing presence of social media.

"In my time with The Team I learned continued skills in assembling proposals, buying media, dealing with artists, handling venue requirements, acquiring sponsorship, and running a social media campaign," said Johnson.

His classes at Ashland prepared Johnson to bring a professional attitude to the workplace. They also gave him a prior knowledge of the business world that was essential to quickly learning on the job.

Johnson's internship has furthered his knowledge of the dealings in business and how the things that he continues to learn in school become applicable upon reaching the real world.

"I plan on continuing to run my business, United States of Ohio Productions, and I believe there is a strong potential that I may be future employed by The Team in a roll helping run the FreeForAll concert series," said Johnson.

When asked if his internship changed his career plan, Johnson responded, "My internship made it even more clear to me that I will continue to work in the entertainment field."

Johnson's final comments about his internship were, "My time with The Team has vastly improved my knowledge and is going to allow me to better run my business. The things that I have learned are completely applicable in my field and I will be able to translate them to continued success going forward."

Johnson is a 2010 graduate of Fairbanks High School. He is the son of Fred and Jane Johnson of Marysville, OH.
