Maryville ranked among top national universities by U.S. News & World Report

ST. LOUIS, MO (09/28/2011)(readMedia)-- Maryville University in St. Louis is honored to receive distinction as a ranked National University in the "Best Colleges 2012" report published by U.S. News & World Report. This ranking reflects Maryville's outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs and our substantial growth over the past five years.

Additionally, in the U.S. News & World Report 2012 High School Counselor Rankings, guidance counselors placed Maryville University among the top 100 institutions in the National Universities category offering the best undergraduate education.

"U.S. News & World Report has affirmed what our students, alumni and the St. Louis community already know, which is that Maryville University is a national university on the move," says President Mark Lombardi, PhD.

Maryville is one of only three universities in St. Louis – along with Washington University and St. Louis University – to be cited in the National University category. In ranking 1,500 colleges and universities nationwide, U.S. News & World Report compiles overall scores based on such categories as academic reputation, graduation rates, class size, freshman retention rates, student to faculty ratio, faculty resources and credentials, alumni giving rate and financial resources.

Last year, as in previous rankings, Maryville had been named among the top 30 universities in the magazine's Regional Universities - Midwest category.
