Mason Watkins Elected Editor-in-Chief of Student Newspaper at Hampden-Sydney College

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (02/26/2014)(readMedia)-- Mason Taff Watkins, a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, has been chosen Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, The Hampden-Sydney Tiger, for the academic year 2014-2015. The Tiger, founded in 1919, reports on significant events on and around campus and provides an outlet for student writers and photographers and a public forum for student opinion.

Mason served as the Associate Editor of the student newspaper during the 2013-2014 academic year and is a member of the honor society, Society of Collegiate Journalists. A psychology major, Mason is a graduate of Midlothian High School and is the son of Tscharner & Jane Watkins of Midlothian.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked nationally in the top 100 of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
