Massachusetts Land Rover Owners Wanted June 11

Land Rover Peabody Welcomes Rovers in Droves

PEABODY, MASS. (06/09/2011)(readMedia)-- Land Rover Peabody will hold its first rally of the year this Saturday, June 11, at 10 a.m., sending a caravan of Land Rover enthusiasts around the North Shore of Massachusetts. The Land Rover Peabody North Shore Rally will lead participants to the storied Inn at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate, then head for area landmark Woodman's of Essex for a seafood lunch.

All Land Rover owners in New England are invited to attend this event. These driving events have been a staple at the Peabody, Massachusetts Land Rover dealer since it opened its doors to the public in 1996.

An open group of Land Rover drivers will hit the road from Land Rover Peabody toward Ipswich, Massachusetts for a private tour of the Great House at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate. Built in 1928, the 59-room mansion is furnished with period antiques and sits on 165 acres of land, including four miles of trails and roads. After the tour, the caravan of Massachusetts Land Rover fans will turn toward Woodman's in Essex, Mass., a popular oceanside eatery that claims to have invented the fried clam in 1916.

"Land Rover owners like to get together, and we're more than happy to organize trips featuring interesting and historic destinations around Massachusetts and the New England area," said Dave Edwards, general manager of Land Rover Peabody. "It has become a tradition here at the dealership to hold rallies, and they've been pretty popular. We expect to see a wide range of Rovers on Saturday, ranging from classics like the 1958 Series II to a fresh-off-the-showroom-floor 2011 Land Rover LR4."

WHAT: Land Rover Peabody North Shore Rally

WHERE: Starts at Land Rover Peabody, 247 Newbury Street, Peabody, Mass.

WHEN: Saturday, June 11, 2011, 10 a.m. EDT

HOW: Land Rover owners can R.S.V.P. with Marketing Director Lori Connolly at 978-532-8312 or lconnolly [at] lyonwaugh.com.

Land Rover enthusiasts that can't make Saturday's festivities can be entertained instead by a comical new "You'll Feel Safe Inside" ad campaign for the 2011 Land Rover LR4. Featuring a pathological liar, a sword-collecting office worker and a whistle-blowing dirty cop, characters in three different commercials find themselves in laughably unsafe situations before escaping to the sanctuary of a Land Rover LR4.

Though its latest ads feature humor, the technology that goes into making the Land Rover LR4 safe is no joke. The luxurious off-roader comes packed with six airbags, including side-thorax airbags and side-curtain airbags, four-wheel electronic traction control and hill descent control to help keep the SUV stable in all conditions. Boosting the LR4's "go anywhere, do anything" ability, an air suspension system can raise the SUV for off-road clearance or lower it for easier loading or towing. Land Rover's Terrain Response technology provides optimized settings for various conditions, ranging from heavy snow to rock crawling and even sand for spirited runs on the beach.

"New England is home to an incredibly diverse landscape, from beaches to bogs to mountains, with every type of weather imaginable" Edwards added. "A Land Rover is the only vehicle that's right at home no matter where you go in New England, which is why it's the perfect SUV for Massachusetts drivers."
