Matthew Petney, an Albuquerque Native, Helps Bolivians Walk With New Prosthetic Limbs

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (02/23/2012)(readMedia)-- Matthew Petney, a Junior Mechanical Engineering major and resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, brought hope to amputees in La Paz, Bolivia as part of a study abroad project with Northern Arizona University. Matthew volunteered for a clinic and assisted patients to be fitted with prosthetic limbs. Many of the patients had gone years without the ability to walk.

The Center for International Education at Northern Arizona University provides a wide-variety of education abroad programs including exchange programs involve the exchange of students with a partner institution abroad; faculty-led programs that teach about a specific field of expertise in relevant settings abroad; private provider programs (such as USAC) that are run by well-organized programs abroad; and National Student Exchange, where students can study at other American institutions for one or two semesters.

Campus Recreation Services is a hub for student activity at Northern Arizona University and is housed in the Health and Learning Center (HLC). The HLC features a fully equipped weight room, cardio theater, basketball courts, aerobic and dance studios, an indoor climbing wall, racquetball courts, a MAC court, and more.
