Matthew Wegner earns industrial design Student Merit Award

MENOMONIE, WIS. (05/01/2012)(readMedia)-- Senior Matthew Wegner, majoring in art with an industrial design concentration, was awarded the UW-Stout Student Merit Award by the Industrial Designers Society of America on campus.
Wegner, of Watertown, received the award after presenting a review of three of his design projects to a panel of practicing professional industrial designers, serving as judges. The judges were Matt Goulet and Caleb Summers of Whiteboard Product Solutions; and Amelia Kennedy and Scott Meyer of Target.
To qualify, Wegner, one of three nominees, had to be nominated by his instructors, maintain a B average in his design classes and present to the panel.
Subsequent to receiving the award, Wegner competed at the IDSA Midwest District Conference: Exploring Creative Fusion in Chicago. He competed against nine students from Midwestern universities and placed in the top five.
