"Mature Subject Matter" Well Received in Staunton

STAUNTON, VA (05/04/2011)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department brochure has saturated Staunton and the surrounding community. One section of the program brochure, "Mature Subject Matter" , has created quite a stir. This is a revitalized senior program section that has been renamed and aimed at the over 50 crowd (see attachment). Within that program area is a section called "Conscious Living" that is set to begin next Tuesday, May 10th. The classes within that sub-section are:

Yoga For Longevity,which begins next Tuesday at the Nelson Street Center. The class is one hour long and runs from 4-5pm. The price is $39 for all 8 weeks. Taught by Patty Snyder.

Mental Fitness begins on May 19th and operates three Thursdays including June 2nd. This class is at the Nelson Street Center and runs from 3:30-5pm. The price is $29 for all three meetings. Taught by Patty Snyder.

Peaceful Easy Feeling: Regenerate Yourself is a three week class that meets from 7-8:30pm. The class will meet on may 19, 26, and June 2nd at the Nelson Street Teen Center. The price is $29 for all three classes. Taught by Patty Snyder.

Modern Mindfulness which is an ancient form of meditation will be held on June 2 and June 9 @ Montgomery Hall Park. The price is $24 for both classes that operate from 6-8pm. This class is taught by Kate Guenther, a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Understanding Your Dreams is the final class in this section. This class will be held on August 16th and 23rd at Montgomery Hall Park from 6-8pm. The price of the class is $24 and is taught by Kate Guenther.

These conscious living classes are geared to people over the age of 50 years. The classes will provide tools to become more aware and higher functioning by reviving the right brain.
