ARLINGTON, VA (01/11/2010)(readMedia)-- Marymount University in Arlington, VA, recently presented Maureen "Mo" McTamney of Berwyn, PA, with the 2009 Alumni Appreciation Award. McTamney attended Marymount from 1969 to 1971, majoring in Liberal Arts. Today, she leads a childcare organization. But, wherever she has lived or worked, Mo has never left Marymount behind.
An extremely active alumna, McTamney is a familiar face at Marymount events both on and off campus. She has served on the Alumni Association Advisory Board and been a member of her class's Reunion Committee and the Philadelphia Alumni Club. At one point in the 1990s, Mo worked with the University's Advancement Office – first as a volunteer and later as an employee -- coordinating the Portfolio in Motion fashion show luncheon and other major fund raising events.
And Maureen McTameny's volunteerism isn't limited to Marymount. She oversees many fundraising projects for Surrey Services for Seniors, a nonprofit organization in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. She is an active member of that organization's Marketing Board and, in 2007, she raised $140,000 as the Gala Chair for the Survey Services for Seniors' Silver Jubilee Ball. Recently, she added a new volunteer activity to her resume -- serving as a docent at the historic Winterthur museum and estate in Delaware.
