Meadie Edmunds Receives Convocation Award at Hampden-Sydney College

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (09/13/2013)(readMedia)-- At Opening Convocation on Tuesday, September 10, Meade Castleton Edmunds IV, a senior at Hampden-Sydney College, received the President's Award for Academic Excellence in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Meadie, a Madison Scholar, serves as a chemistry tutor and is a member of the national honor society Phi Beta Kappa (academics) and the professional science fraternity Alpha Sigma Chi. A biology and chemistry major, Meadie is a graduate of Webb School of Knoxville and is the son of Dr. Meade C. and Dr. Kathleen O. Edmunds III of Knoxville.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top 100 nationally among liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
