Media Advisory - NY State Announces Major Shared Services Grants for Schenectady and the Capital Region

ALBANY, NY (07/07/2009)(readMedia)-- WHAT: NYS Department of State Makes Local Government Efficiency Grant Announcement for the Capital Region.

NY Secretary of State Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez will join local elected officials to announce grants for Schenectady and the Capital Region. These grants, administered by the New York State Department of State, will assist local governments in identifying taxpayer savings and improve service delivery efficiencies through shared services and/or consolidations.

The Local Government Efficiency grant program, a four-year old program, is anticipated to produce savings of over $105 million to local governments and taxpayers this year. To date, the program has produced projected savings of over $250 million dollars from a $29 million state investment.
