State, Advocates Urge Homeowners: Make the Call - Free, Quality Foreclosure Prevention Help Available

WHAT:

A Press Conference is scheduled to open a regional meeting being held for foreclosure prevention providers to address foreclosure issues in the Capital Region. Officials and advocates will communicate important information regarding the assistance available to Homeowners at risk of foreclosure.

Following the press conference is one of several statewide regional meetings conducted by State Officials from the Division of Housing and Community Renewal, The New York State Banking Department and The Empire Justice Center.

WHO:

  • Deborah VanAmerongen, Commissioner of the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal will discuss the state's role in foreclosure prevention and the free assistance available to homeowners
  • Jane Azia, Director of Non-Depository Institutions and Consumer Protection, NYS Banking Department will discuss the new federal Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan
  • Susan Cotner, Coordinator, Capital District Chapter of the NYS Coalition for Excellence in Homeownership Education; HomeSave Coalition
  • Deborah Willsey, Supervising Attorney, Foreclosure Prevention Project, Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York
  • Stephanie Galvin, Housing Counselor, Albany County Rural Housing Alliance
