Medway Siblings Honored as Patty Roche Memorial Scholars

EASTON, MA (09/22/2011)(readMedia)-- Medway natives Thomas Murray and his sister Katie Murray attended a special dinner for Patty Roche Memorial Scholars at Stonehill College in Easton recently. Stonehill's Roche Memorial Scholarship gives priority to Roche Brothers Supermarkets, Inc. employees and children of employees.

Katie is currently a senior at Stonehill while her brother Thomas graduated from the College in 2006. While at Stonehill, Thomas, who now teaches Economics at Fairfield University, received a Patty Roche Memorial Scholarship and now his sister Katie has followed in his footsteps as she is a current recipient of the Roche Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship is named in honor of Patty Roche, a Stonehill alumna and Personnel Director of Roche Brothers who died in 1986 of a brain tumor. The scholarship, which has assisted nearly 50 Stonehill students since it was established in 1992, is funded by Patty's parents Bud and Eileen Roche. In 1952, Bud Roche and his brother Patrick founded Roche Brothers in Roslindale.
