Lecture and booksigning to be held April 16, 10 a.m. in Zimmerman Recital Hall

ANNVILLE, PA (04/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Author of The Dogs Who Live with the Queen, Dr. Suzanne H. Arnold, H'96, and illustrator Matt Allyn Chapman will present a lecture and booksigning in Zimmerman Recital Hall at the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery at Lebanon Valley College. The free presentation, titled "The Art of Illustration," is open to children of all ages and is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m.

The Dogs Who Live with the Queen is a children's book which describes the exciting adventures of Darby and Baxter, the beloved Shih Tzus who belong to a queen. The mischievous dogs play ball, have a party in the ballroom, and get into trouble in the palace.

Chapman is a Lancaster-based illustrator and graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, and currently illustrates children's stories with All About Learning Press. He will be speaking about the process behind illustrating for children's books. Of interest will be his thoughts on the creation of the humorous illustrations that accompany the text of this book, The Dogs Who Live with the Queen.

Arnold, a community leader and philanthropist, will be on hand to sign copies of her book. She founded the Friends of the Gallery group that resulted in the opening of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery at LVC in the summer of 1994 in the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church. A native of Lebanon County, Arnold serves as an honorary trustee for the College.

The lecture is held in conjunction with the 40th Annual Juried Art Show and ValleyFest.

Gallery hours are Wednesdays from 5–8 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays from 1–4:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.; and by appointment for groups.
