Meeting of the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council
Review of proposed changes to the state's uniform fire,building, and energy code among the items on the agenda
ALBANY, NY (06/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Members of the 17-body State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council (Code Council) will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The Code Council will consider a proposal to adopt the 2011 National Electric Code (NEC) as a reference standard to be used in the Uniform Code. The Code Council currently follows the 2008 code. If adopted, New York will become the third state to adopt the 2011 NEC.
The Code Council also plans to review proposed corrections to the recently adopted updates of the Uniform Code and Energy Code; proposed changes related to the use of corrugated stainless steel gas tubing in gas piping systems; petitions from three localities for more restrictive local standards; and code guidelines for nationally standardized buildings.
