CHESTER, PA (04/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Megan Capobianco of Clementon, N.J., was awarded a three-year full tuition and fees Army ROTC scholarship to attend Widener University based on her first year performance as a cadet in the university's Freedom Battalion. Capobianco recently completed her freshman year at Widener, where she is majoring in biology.
The Army ROTC scholarship will also provide Capobianco with $1,200 per year for books and a monthly stipend of $350-500. Widener will provide her with free room and board on top of the scholarship. In accepting this scholarship, Capobianco will join 15 additional Widener cadets who will be under full scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year.
Capobianco earned the scholarship based on her grade point average and score on the Army Physical Fitness Test, which is composed of two minutes of push-ups, two minutes of sit-ups and a two-mile run.
In addition to Army ROTC, Capobianco is involved at Widener as a member of the varsity soccer and lacrosse teams and the intramural soccer and volleyball teams. She is a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity; the American Chemical Society; and the Widener Biological Society.
