NASHVILLE TN (12/06/2011)(readMedia)-- Leticia W. Towns, MSHA, FACHE, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association of the Midland States. ALAMS provides programs and services to the residents of Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio.

Currently the Senior Vice President – External Relations at Memphis' Regional Medical Center, Towns has more than 20 years of professional experience in health care settings across the southern United States. She is a native Memphian, who has returned to her home area after being away for 28 years.

Towns is Board Certified in Healthcare Management and a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives. She received her Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama and her bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration and Planning from Tennessee State University.

Having lost both an aunt and uncle to lung cancer and having several family members with asthma, Towns joined the board because she believes in the importance of lung disease eradication through research and education and is concerned with air quality effects on the quality of life.

The mission of the American Lung Association is to save lives through the prevention of lung disease and lung health.
