Mendelssohn Club Announces 106th Traditional Holiday Concert

"Seasonal Joy Around the World" on Friday, December 12

ALBANY, NY (12/02/2014)(readMedia)-- The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will perform its traditional holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 12th at The Egg in Albany, NY. The theme for this year's concert is "Seasonal Joy Around the World."

"Our holiday concert is always a highlight of the season," said Mendelssohn Club president, Dr. Frederick Eames. "The combination of a great program and our talented and very accomplished guest artists should provide a wonderful evening of holiday music for our audience."

The concert will feature a diverse selection of international holiday music and is a perfect way for Capital Region residents to welcome the season. In addition to familiar tunes from the United States and England, the club will perform songs from Spain, Hungary, Israel, Trinidad, Nigeria and Hawaii.

Joining the club as special guest artists will be soprano Vedrana Kalas and the Queensbury High School Madrigal Singers. A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 65-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group.

About The Mendelssohn Club: A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 65-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group. The club is composed of men from the Capital District, Hudson Valley and Berkshire regions, and performs a full range of male choral selections from around the world. The Mendelssohn Club is conducted by Jeffrey L. Vredenburg. Mr. Vredenburg is a graduate of the Crane School of Music, State University College at Potsdam, New York where he majored in Music Education, Voice, and Piano. His post-graduate education includes a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the State University of New York in Albany and choral conducting seminars with Donald Neuen, Dale Warland, Robert Page, Gregg Smith, and Margaret Hillis. Pianist Michael Clement serves as the club's accompanist. Mr. Clement was trained at the Eastman School of Music, the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California.
