Mendelssohn Club Announces Annual Winter Holiday Concert

Club Bids Farewell to Principal Conductor Jeff Vredenburg After 22 Years of Service

DELMAR, NY (12/02/2021) (readMedia)-- The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will return to the stage on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. for "We Rise Again," a concert at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle Street in downtown Albany.

The 2021 winter holiday concert will feature a program of holiday numbers and club favorites, as the club celebrates the season and bids farewell to retiring Principal Conductor Jeff Vredenburg. Initially scheduled to retire following the club's 2020 spring concert that was cancelled due to COVID, Mr. Vredenburg graciously agreed to return this semester to conduct the club's first concert since December 2019.

Joining the club as guest artists for the evening will be Jerry Gretzinger & Friends and soprano soloist Christina Pizzino-Catalano.

The Mendelssohn Club takes COVID safety very seriously and will follow current guidance and regulations. The club strongly recommends all audience members be fully vaccinated. Regardless of vaccination status, masks and social distancing will be required for all audience members. Groups attending together may sit together but should maintain appropriate distance from others. If regulations allow, club members will not wear masks while performing, but will observe masking and distancing when offstage.

About The Mendelssohn Club: A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 60-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group. The club is composed of men from the Capital District, Hudson Valley and Berkshire regions, and performs a full range of male choral selections from around the world. Jeffrey L. Vredenburg is the principal conductor of the Mendelssohn Club. Mr. Vredenburg is a graduate of the Crane School of Music, State University College at Potsdam, New York where he majored in Music Education, Voice, and Piano. His post-graduate education includes a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the State University of New York in Albany and choral conducting seminars with Donald Neuen, Dale Warland, Robert Page, Gregg Smith, and Margaret Hillis. Pianist Michael Clement serves as the club's accompanist. Mr. Clement trained at the Eastman School of Music, the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California.
