Mendelssohn Club Concludes Centennial Season with Holiday Concert

Special Guest Artist: The Capital District Youth Chorale

ALBANY, NY (11/30/2009)(readMedia)-- The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will perform its traditional holiday concert at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11th at The Egg in Albany, NY. The Club's special guest for the evening will be The Capital District Youth Chorale, and the theme for this year's concert is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

A Capital Region tradition since 1909, and celebrating its centennial season, the 70-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group. An evening of both classical and popular holiday music is planned, and the concert offers a perfect way for Capital Region residents to welcome the holiday season.

About The Mendelssohn Club: A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 70-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group. The Club is composed of men from the Capital District, Hudson Valley and Berkshire regions, and performs a full range of male choral selections from around the world. The Mendelssohn Club is conducted by Dr. Victor Klimash. A faculty member at Union College, Dr. Klimash holds a Doctor of Music in Voice from Florida State University, and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Voice from The Eastman School of Music. Pianist Michael Clement serves as the Club's accompanist. Mr. Clement was trained at the Eastman School of Music, the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California. About The Capital District Youth Chorale: Formerly the SCCC Children's Chorus, The Capital District Youth Chorale was founded in 1983 by conductor Diane Warner. The singers between ages 9 and 18 are drawn from 60 schools in 8 counties of the greater Capital District. Entrance into and advancement within CDYC is based upon audition results, experience and reliability.
