Mendelssohn Club to Hold Auditions for 100th Season

Traditional Holiday Concert Scheduled for December 11th

DELMAR, NY (08/21/2009)(readMedia)-- The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will hold auditions in September for male singers interested in joining the Club for the second half of its centennial season. Tenors and basses are invited to rehearse with the Club on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:15 p.m. at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 916 Western Avenue, Albany, NY.

Prospective members are invited to sing with the Club during the first few rehearsals in September. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday, and final auditions will take place near the end of September. The Mendelssohn Club will conclude its 100th season with a holiday concert -- "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" -- on Friday, December 11th at The Egg in Albany. The Club's special guest for the holiday concert will be the Capital District Youth Chorale.

About The Mendelssohn Club: A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 75-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group. The Club is composed of men from the Capital District, Hudson Valley and Berkshire regions, and performs a full range of male choral selections from around the world. The Mendelssohn Club is conducted by Dr. Victor Klimash. A faculty member at Union College, Dr. Klimash holds a Doctor of Music in Voice from Florida State University, and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Voice from The Eastman School of Music. Pianist Michael Clement serves as the Club's accompanist. Mr. Clement was trained at the Eastman School of Music, the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California.
