Mendelssohn Club to Hold Auditions in January

May 14, 2010 Spring Concert to Benefit Irish American Heritage Museum

DELMAR, NY (12/28/2009)(readMedia)-- The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will hold auditions in January for male singers interested in joining the Club for the second half of its 2009-2010 season. Tenors and basses are invited to rehearse with the Club on Wednesday, January 6 at 7:15 p.m. at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 916 Western Avenue, Albany, NY.

Prospective members are invited to sing with the Club during the first few rehearsals in January. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday, and final auditions will take place near the end of January. The Mendelssohn Club will perform its annual spring concert on Friday, May 14th at Chancellor's Hall in the State Education Building. The Club's guest artist will be Hair of the Dog, and a portion of the concert proceeds will benefit the Irish American Heritage Museum.

About The Mendelssohn Club: A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 70-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group. The Club is composed of men from the Capital District, Hudson Valley and Berkshire regions, and performs a full range of male choral selections from around the world. The Mendelssohn Club is conducted by Dr. Victor Klimash. A faculty member at Union College, Dr. Klimash holds a Doctor of Music in Voice from Florida State University, and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Voice from The Eastman School of Music. Pianist Michael Clement serves as the Club's accompanist. Mr. Clement was trained at the Eastman School of Music, the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California.
