MORRISTOWN, NJ (12/21/2011)(readMedia)-- Michele Pillari of Little Ferry, N.J., has successfully defended her dissertation at the College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE), 2 Convent Road, Morristown, N.J., to earn her doctorate in educational leadership. Pillari's dissertation is entitled, "A Feasibility Study of Implementing Professional Learning Communities in a K-8 School District." She is the principal at Haledon Public School.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at College of Saint Elizabeth. The staff is caring, patient and so supportive," she said. "I would recommend it to anyone."

Pillari holds a B.A. in English with secondary education certification from Kean University, a Master of Arts in Education with a reading specialization from William Paterson University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Caldwell College. She has worked at Manchester Regional High School as a literary specialist, high school English department supervisor and curriculum director, and at Vernon Township schools as the English department supervisor and curriculum director.

The doctoral program at CSE, which is dedicated to preparing leaders who are committed to social justice and ethical practice, began in August 2007. "Integrated into all course work and learning activities are the central values and beliefs necessary for school leaders to function as morally purposeful stewards for their school communities," states Dr. John Crews, Ed.D., CSE educational leadership program chair. "This philosophy of servant leadership represents a major shift from the traditional paradigm of school leaders as managers of resources, which is so prevalent in today's practices."
